My name is Ray Aloy, I was born on September 14, 1979, in Miami Beach, Florida. From a young age, I was captivated by the world of art, and by my early teens, I was already accepting commissions for paintings, drawings, and airbrush murals for local businesses and friends.
As I grew, it became clear that art would be the foundation of my career. I was determined to explore every avenue available to me within the creative industry. At the age of 20, I began my studies at the Art Institute in downtown Miami, focusing on computer animation and graphic design fields that combined artistic creativity with the advancing technology of the time. I earned my bachelors degree in under three years, maintaining a 3.4 GPA, a testament to my dedication and passion for my craft.
After completing my degree, I quickly immersed myself in the industry, gaining valuable experience in roles within news stations, art galleries, and independent graphic design firms. However, I soon realized that working for myself would offer greater creative fulfillment. Over the next decade, I built a successful freelance career, specializing in web design and graphic design projects for a diverse range of clients.
Through my work, I established strong relationships with local business owners and fellow artists, which eventually sparked my curiosity about the tattoo industry. Unlike my previous work behind a computer screen, tattooing allowed me to connect with clients on a personal level, forming meaningful relationships while creating permanent works of art.
At the age of 29, I began my tattoo apprenticeship, applying my extensive background in graphic design and animation to refine my skills. My education provided me with a unique edge in the industry, enabling me to create high-quality, customized designs with ease.Following my apprenticeship, I accepted an opportunity to move to Virginia, where I helped manage a tattoo studio for a colleague. This experience led to me fulfilling a long-held dream of opening my own tattoo studio in Salem, Virginia, in 2014. After successfully running the business for over a decade, I expanded my reach by opening a second studio in Holly Ridge, North Carolina, in 2023.
Over the years, my career has provided me with the opportunity to travel, grow as an artist, and contribute to my community in a meaningful way. I have mentored and apprenticed several artists, many of whom have gone on to build their own successful careers. Some have moved on to pursue new ventures, while others remain by my side, helping to push my vision forward.
Currently, I manage a dedicated team of talented artists and piercers who work alongside me to ensure the continued success of both studios. The ability to run and grow these businesses has been an incredibly fulfilling journey. I am deeply committed to the future of my studios and the communities they serve.
As I look ahead, my focus remains on expanding and strengthening my business while continuing to provide exceptional service and artistry to my clients. The pursuit of knowledge and growth has always been at the core of my success, and I am excited to take the next step in securing the future of my business.
